Keynote presentation: Public Technology and Cyber Risk

We are moving into a new phase of connected activity in the public sector. From more efficient public services, to greener, more accessible cities, the use of technology has the potential to transform the service that Government can provide to our communities. We should take advantage of this transformation, but we must be mindful of risk as we do so. As more public sector activity shifts online, the vital services that citizens rely on become more susceptible to disruption from cyber threats, and work on public technology becomes more important than ever in keeping us all safe. This speech will set out the work that the Government is doing to support this vital activity, discussing the principles of the newly published National Cyber Strategy and Government Cyber Security Strategy, setting out the importance of initiatives such as Secure by Design, and calling on Government and industry to work more closely as we tackle these challenges.
